VocoPro DVX-668K Multi-Format Review

The VocoPro DVX-668K is a karaoke player that can work as your only multimedia player. It plays multiple formats and discs, such as CDs, CDGs, DVDs, MP3s, HDCDs, VCDs and DivX files. However, it may not support “made to order” discs.

With a USB port on the front, you can play digital files from a flash drive (flash drive is not included). The player supports 2 microphones, and it has individual microphone volume control for each one, so you can adjust the volume. This comes in handy when one wants to be the lead singer and the other the backing vocal, for example. A control button for echo is right next to it. The front also has simple navigation buttons, like stop, play/pause, prev, next, a power button, and the eject-disc button.

On the back, you find many connections. The DVX-668K is quite versatile in this area. The audio outputs are 5.1 channel surround sound RCA, L/R stereo RCA, Digital coaxial and digital optical. The video outputs are RCA video, S-video, Component (Y Pb Pr) and SCART. The only downside here is that it has no HDMI which is today’s digital standard for combined video and audio.

There is an infrared remote control included, which has many buttons and controls, like eject, prog, clear, power, display, l/r, audio, v-mode, n/p, subtitle, angle, dvd/usb, view, time, setup, return, zoom, enter, repeat, title, a-b, menu, slow, stop, step, mute, vol +/-, navigation buttons and numbers 0-9 buttons as well as digital key control buttons. This makes it easy to control everything without having to get up from the recliner.

VocoPro DVX-668K Features:

  • Reads CD, CD+G, DVD, MP3, HDCD, DivX and VCD (may not support “made to order” discs)
  • USB port (allows flash drive playback of digital files)
  • Supports 2 microphones
  • Individual microphone volume controls
  • 5.1-channel digital surround sound
  • Includes remote control
  • Supports PAL & NTSC so can be used worldwide
  • Video outputs for HD video

While the DVX-668K is an easy to use multi-format player with many connections, it does not come with any microphones, so it is as much of a DVD player as it is a karaoke player, but it can play karaoke discs and has support for 2 microphones. One drawback is that in 2016 (the year of this writing) it does not have HDMI, and by being a multi-format player, it should also have Blu-ray, therefore we take a lot off from its features score. And for a similar price, one can probably find a better alternative that includes a microphone and has HDMI output.
