Singing Machine STVG888 Review
Updated 19 August 2018: This model seems to be difficult to still find on the market because of newer releases of similar karaoke machines from Singing Machine
The overall design is a modern version of an earlier Singing Machine and in my opinion a lot better-looking. The speakers are located at the front, surrounded by LEDs. There are inputs for guitar/keyboard and line in. There are two microphone inputs and a USB port, and several audio controls such as master volume, balance, echo, and microphone volume.
The 7-inch LCD screen is placed on the top of the front facing you and is quite bright and display lyrics well. There are also buttons to navigate, change mode, repeat, program, CDG/USB, record, Bluetooth, power on/off, key control -/+, AVC on/off. It is easy to change between CDG/USB, camera, Bluetooth, and ext. input. The monitor can be set to CDG, camera or off. Video out can also be easily changed to CDG/USB or camera.
On the top is the camera which allows you to film yourself while you sing karaoke, and can be adjusted by tilting it up and down slightly. It can record in MP4 and AVI formats and be stored on an SD card. The camera has an SD card reader on the side. On each side of the machine is a microphone holder.
The disc player plays CDs and CD+Gs, but you can also play MP3 and MP3+G from a USB flash drive or SD card. Bluetooth allows you to stream music directly from your smartphone or tablet. The player also has an RCA output which enables you to display the karaoke lyrics on a bigger screen like a television.
This is a very nice karaoke player for anyone. It is kid-friendly and would be perfect for the young child or teen, but can be used by everyone in the family. The clean design allows it to be placed in the living room. The size is 9.8 x 11.8 x 18.9 inches and it weighs 12.3 pounds. Not the lightest, but it is not too difficult to be transported. However, it does not have any handles so it is not meant to be a portable device.
