Ion Audio Party Time Wireless Speaker Review
The Ion Audio Party Time is a smaller wireless speaker system than other Ion Audio products we have reviewed earlier, like the Ion Audio Party Rocker Live (and Block Party Rocker), which also are speaker systems with a LED dome on top. If you like the features of those, but would just like it to come in a smaller and lighter product, then the Ion Audio Party Time is definitely for you.
With its small LED dome on top, it illuminates a dark room with fancy party lights in several colors. On the front-facing panel on the top, you have your Bluetooth connect/disconnect-control with an LED indicating pairing. Right next to it is the AUX input, followed by the master volume control. There is a light displaying power, whether the machine is on or off, and lastly, there is an on/off switch for the LED dome in case you only want it to only play music and not use the lights. On the back, you find the AC input where the power cord is connected, and a power on/off switch. That is basically ALL there is to the Party Time. Nothing advanced or complicated. A simple machine that does what it is supposed to.
While other bigger Ion Audio products have reinforced edges with aluminum or steel, the party time does not. But it is also a lot smaller and lighter than those products. It has a very similar construction of hard plastic all around, and a glossier finish along the edges. There are no handles for lifting it, but at 3.4 pounds, they are not really needed. Overall the design is pretty neat and clean, and it would look good in a living room compared to many alternatives. The front of the speaker is covered by the usual clean but cool Ion Audio grid panel.
There are not many features such as extra inputs or outputs, which limits it in some ways when it comes to karaoke. If you have a monitor displaying the lyrics, and you just connect this for audio, it will work great and the fancy lights will give that karaoke party experience we all love. If you are looking for something powerful to use in a large club, bar or outside, you may want to go for the bigger Ion Audio products, but for a private indoor living room small-sized karaoke party, this will definitely do the trick.
For just casually streaming music, the AUX input will make it play from whatever music device you plug it into. The Bluetooth easily pairs with a smartphone, tablet, computer or other Bluetooth-enabled music devices, and Ion Audio claims it has a pretty good wireless range of up to 100 feet.
