Ion Audio Block Party Rocker Live Speaker Review

Update – 20 August 2018: This speaker seems to be outdated as newer versions of portable audio systems have been released.

Original review:

The Ion Audio Party Rocker Live and the Ion Audio Block Party Live are two very similar models of a Bluetooth-enabled speaker system that has fancy party lights built into the machine itself. The only difference between them is that one is a more portable but heavier version. Since those are the only differences, the standard model will be described in most of this review, and the portable version’s additional features will be listed at the end.

As most Ion Audio products, the Party Rocker Live is built to be rugged and durable. Most surfaces are hard plastic with reinforced edges of aluminum. On the sides, there are reinforced handles for easier carrying around.

In the front, there is a panel facing you with a microphone input, microphone volume control, aux input, Bluetooth connect/disconnect button together with a LED indicating the connection status. Further, there is a master volume button and control for the light mode with LEDs indicating which one is activated. The settings are auto, beat sync and app mode.

The party rocker remote control app features a nice control panel with a faster-slower scroll bar, and several button controls: auto, beat sync, app mode, lights off, all on, all off, red, blue, green, orange, strobe and tilt.

The Bluetooth support enables you to play music straight from your smartphone wirelessly. If you don’t have a Bluetooth-enabled music device, or you prefer a wired connection, then you also have an auxiliary input which plays the music from whichever music device you plug into it.

The party lights is a very fun feature that really shows off when it is dark outside. Whether you want to light up your living room or bring it out into the park after dark and light up the trees, this feature will definitely help to put you into that party mode. Along with good music from a powerful 50W speaker, you have everything you need in order to dance all night long.

Only 1 microphone is supported, so if you want to be more people singing karaoke together, you can solve this by purchasing a microphone splitter and connect more microphones to it.

If you want to transport your speaker around a lot, or if you are a street performer, or just don’t want to depend on having access to power outlets, you can choose the portable model (Block Party Live). Ion Audio claims you can get 75 hours of music from the rechargeable battery, which I assume must be on very low volume. With very loud sound, users report you to get 10 hours without using the party lights, and 4-6 hours with loud sound and the party lights on. You also get wheels and a retractable handle to make it more portable.

Party Rocker Live (standard model) features:

  • Party lights
  • Party rocker remote control app
  • Bluetooth
  • Microphone included

The Ion Audio Party Rocker Live and the Block Party Live are powerful speaker systems that you can use to sing karaoke or just listen to music. The party lights create that fun party atmosphere.
